Here's what you really need, and it isn't on this model
Sometimes you have to buy the "cheaper" version of an item to understand why the more expensive versions cost so much. It wasn't until I got this thing and set it up that I understood one simple truth. If you're buying one of these to scare off animals or any other living breathing thing, what you want is something with a heat sensor, not a motion sensor. That's why the others cost so much more. This unit, aside from being a bit cheaply made, has a motion sensor. That means ANY motion sets it off. So it kept going off over and over again. It would go off when the wind blew and moved the flowers around. Then the dripping water from when it went off would drip over the sensor and make it go off again. And again. No setting I've tried seems to make this any better. Lower settings don't keep it from going off for no reason and higher settings seem to make it worse because the higher settings widen the field it's protecting- meaning there's even more stuff to set it off at the slightest movement. Even all this could be forgiven if I could at least use it as a regular lawn sprinkler. Or set a timer to allow it to only go off at night or in the morning. These are all features you find on the more expensive units that are NOT present on this one. So as of now all I got out of this purchase is the world's ugliest (and perhaps most expensive) lawn ornament. Oh well. When something like this happens because of your own lack of due diligence all you can do is charge it to the game.
