This show is not for everyone. I stopped watching in the middle of the season and don't plan on finishing. For one thing, the perp is known early on; so there's zero suspense. It's more cat and mouse. Now, this approach might work for a single episode, but it drags on and on over an entire season, so it's more social commentary than mystery. What you get is people with grubby lives, lots of grievances, family disputes, jealousies, mothers from hell, troubled teens, etc etc, all set in rather bleak surroundings. I've never loved the concept of one crime being solved over many episodes. It succeeded with The Bridge and The Killing, but not here. If you want to know how the Welsh underside lives, this series is for you. But if you want an exciting police drama, look elsewhere. I'm not kidding - This is one depressing show.
