Had WD been honest about this drive, I would not have purchased it at any price. Initially it seemed to work fine but after a few months it crashed out of my raid setup. It was only when external investigators discovered that WD had been selling SMR drives without admitting it that I realized that I had been had by WD. There are reports on the web that these drives can freeze for up to 20 minutes when you try to write to them. Most software will fail if that happens and it is too easy to lose your data.
