Loved the setting. As a Southerner I appreciated the detail of things & the hope of restoration. The story was well told, but the swearing was excessive. I don't personally swear, but I realize others do. I just felt like it was way overdone in the book. Surely there are better & more descriptive ways of telling a story than filling it with SOBs and how everything is damned all the time. I'm also not into "romance" books. I knew some of the overdone great-catch guy & pretty-but-doesn't-know-it girl would be there. That's obvious from the get go. But I wasn't expecting the sex. I was really disappointed that was included because it detracted from a pretty story. Would've been a 4 star book without the foul language & explicit sex. If you don't mind that stuff in your novels you'll enjoy this book.
