If you like Star Trek, then this insult is not for you! Star Trek Discovery blatantly disregards Star trek’s rich and established history and thumbs its nose at fans in an arrogant display of flash above substance... The show runners seem to believe that they can “Trek better” than all the other talent who has produced Trek in the past. In a nut-shell, this series desperately tries to find footing around a shallow main character who is the best at everything she does. This character is such a Mary-Sue that they literally bend the story around her character so that she is always right and always the center of everything. Alex Kurtzman, the main show runner is so strangely obsessed with making sure Michael Burnham is the center of the show that he actually retconned her to be Spock’s sister and for her to help shape younger Spock and Capt Pike. Continuity in the show is horrendous as well. -sometimes from scene to scene or episode to episode, things just don’t make sense. The muddled writing and forgettable characters make one yearn for the days of the older Trek series where characters and great writing came first and special effects were secondary. Discovery is cinematically dizzying hoping that all the lens flares and overly dramatic lighting distract viewers from all it’s shortcomings... well, it doesn’t. This show is pedestrian. It doesn’t deserve to be called Star Trek. At least not Prime Trek. If it was an alternate timeline (like the JJ films,) then that would be fine. But they triple-down that this travesty was a prequel to TOS... That is til they finish season 2 with a time jump 1000 years to the future... (spoilers!!) Why does the show leave its prequel timeframe you ask? Because Kurtzman admitted that he couldn’t handle working in the prime timeline so he is moving the show to after all known history in Trek. LOL season 3 will be laughable mess I’m sure. These people ruined Star Trek. They should all be ashamed.
