Warning, "Do not purchase this product".
I am not a professional in leaving reviews for I am just your average guy who lives in Fairbanks, Alaska who thought that buying an American made pair of boot laces that advertises it as being indestructible would be a good idea considering I work up in the North Slope of Alaska in the oil fields and the thought of indestructible boot laces sounds very appealing.
Don't believe all of the positive reviews for I have no doubt they are put there by the manufacturer themselves to sell their products.
I purchased two pairs of boot laces and they arrived in the mail today for they were on sale at half off so I only paid $10 per set instead of the retail price of $20 a set and they arrived today on October 15, 2014
Yes, the marketing is correct as I am sure these are indestructible but did you ever think of why they are indestructible?
They arrived in the package as seen in the photos, so far so good but when I removed them from their package they were extremely stiff like a steel wire and then I noticed a card in the package about the size of a business card explaining that you cannot tie these laces as you would a normal set of boot laces like into a bow tie or I should say a normal tie.
There is a diagram on the card showing that these have to be tied in a "box tie" and who outside of the Boy Scouts knows how to do a box tie? The second option they show you is how to tie these laces into a double knot like you would for a five-year-old child.
The reason it gives instructions on how to tie these laces is because these laces will not stay tied no matter what kind of knot you try to tie them into or how tight you attempt to do it for I had tried numerous ways and tried to make them so tight as to almost cut the edge of my fingers pulling the laces so tight so many times.
I was able to walk an average of 50 feet before I had to bend over and retie the boots again so after doing this more than a dozen times within an hour I finally had enough.
After getting back home I took a knife to attempt to cut one in half and that's when I found out how they are made for they are made of a thin steel cable that is plastic laminated and over that is the material that makes them look like a shoelace and if you have ever tried to tie a knot in a steel cable it's impossible to do to where it does not try to unravel itself.
In Conclusion it does not matter how indestructible a pair of boot laces are for if you cannot keep them tied then they are worthless.
I decided to just take the loss and throw both sets of laces away into the trash rather than go through the trouble and headache to box these up and drive to the post office to mail them and wait for a refund.
You'll notice nowhere in the description of this product does it state that these are required to be tied a specific way and even when that is done correctly they will not stay tied for more than a few minutes.
I truly hope that this helps somebody else from making the same mistake I made if not good luck to you.
Good luck and best regards,
Don B.
