Trigger warning — mentions non-consent. This was a DNF for me. I feel bad leaving a one star for a book I didn’t even finish, but I couldn’t do it. After Aoife had a thought monologue of Maggie “letting one of the Five Points rape her,” I was done. Excuse me, what? Nobody who is raped “let’s” someone rape them. That’s why it’s rape. Secondly, that character who was raped was a flipping teenager and the person who raped her was a grown man. How on earth was she supposed to have stopped him? Normally, I try to keep going, but that was a hard pass after reading that. Sorry.
