I feel like I've been duped. If you buy this book looking for a steamy, erotic read with lots of twists and secrets, you will be majorly disappointed. The premise is that 21 year old Sophie auctions off her virginity to pay for her dying sister's experimental medical treatments. (Sure, right, whatever.) Colton Drake comes along and pays a cool million for Sophie to service him for the next six months, in the process saving her from some perv hoping to make her his kinky sex slave. However, Colton does have needs. Per the book description: "I have certain tastes, certain sexual proclivities. My cock is a bit more discriminatory than most. And training a virgin takes finesse and patience - both of which I lack." It turns out Colton is a really decent guy and soon their arrangement turns into one of mutual attraction. I did like both Sophie and Colton as characters but the book is slow paced and choppy. I also got the feeling that I'd been there, done that--and way better. But the major problem is that the book is billed as erotica. In fact, it comes with the following warning: " WARNING: this book contains an addictively filthy alpha male who will dampen your panties and own your days and nights. Proceed at your own risk." I felt like I was reading a different book entirely because the "sex" was pretty vanilla unless you're offended by a couple blow jobs. There was nothing really filthy. Heck, there weren't even any lies, unless you consider the deception of readers in a glaring plot point a lie. SPOLER ALERT AHEAD! **********************SPOILER****************************** Sophie and Colton never have sex. That's right. He pays for a virgin, there's all this talk about them having sex, but then they never actually do the deed. Isn't that the whole premise of the book? I think it's just a way for the author to milk this story into a second book. *****************END SPOILER***************************** The book ends on a cliff hanger. Filthy Beautiful Love is the next book but I won't be reading it unless it's free and I don't have anything better to do on a rainy afternoon.
