RAFE YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE! Either sheer hubris or incompetence - i can't tell at this point
I have to wonder how many people on cast did the due diligence of actually reading the series like a fan would have. If they did, someone obviously felt they could write a better story than Mr. Jordan himself.
Just 3 episodes in, i have lost track of how many things were changed. These aren't minor things. these are MAJOR substantive changes that ADD NOTHING to the story. I don't believe for one minute these changes were made to account for pacing or to fit the format of a mini series. They accomplish THAT goal via a bunch of haphazard edits and cuts and outright omitting vast swaths of critical storyline.
I kept telling myself, ok give it a chance, it'll come into it's own. Instead it digs a hole deeper and deeper. At the end of 3 hours, you find yourself at the bottom of said hole, and have NO IDEA WHERE YOU ARE.
Jordan was a master storyteller, weaving (no pun intended) insane amounts of depth into this series. What came out on this end was superficial, tawdry, and with the exception of some fairly good performances from Pike and Robins, falls flat on it's face. You had pretty much the BEST SOURCE MATERIAL OF ALL TIME, how did you manage to fail so hard?
