I really, really wanted to like this. I had been on the fence about getting an HD 7, so when these came out I couldn't pass it up. Although this is obviously a step down from the HD 7, it was a great opportunity to see what a Fire is like. I didn't expect too much from a $50 tablet, but I was still very, very disappointed. The screen wasn't super crisp, but it wasn't really bad. The mono speaker was sufficiently loud for watching movies with the device in your hand or nearby. I didn't particularly like the Fire OS, but I imagine I would get used to it with time. With low expectations for the screen quality and sound, I was actually pleasantly surprised when I first turned it on. That said, once I started using this tablet, the problems cropped up quickly... 1.) There were wifi connectivity issues--it would indicate that it was connected, but couldn't retrieve anything. I would have to turn off wifi and turn it back on to get it to work again. My other devices have no issues with my router. Other users have reported the same issue for this device and the HD 8. 2.) Bluetooth would not connect to my new bluetooth speaker. In fairness, it would connect to my cell phone when I tested it, but I don't need it to connect to my cell phone, I need it to connect to my speaker. 3.) The tap sensitivity or responsiveness is terrible. I had to tap and tap and tap to get something to open. The HD 8 and 10 reviews also mention tap sensitivity issues. 4.) When scrolling slowly or pausing with your finger on the screen, the text jumps up and down, making it blurry. You have to take your finger off to read. I like to slowly scroll while I'm reading, so this problem rendered the device useless for reading anything of substance. 5.) One of the two devices I ordered arrived with some sort of text to speech turned on that was debilitating. I would hate to have to use that if I had an impairment. Worse, it made the already difficult task of getting the tablet to recognize your taps even more difficult. With the terrible tap sensitivity issues, it took me forever to figure out how to turn it off. I returned these with the expectation of ordering a Fire HD 8, but after reading the reviews I decided to stay away from the Fire devices for now. It appears that both the 8 and the 10 have some of the same issues that this one has.
