Three Years Later it is painful to sleep on. Warranty was useless.
SUMMARY: Only lasted 3-years. According to manufacturer, not covered under warranty as problem is not visible to the eye. If you are purchasing, check the tag to make sure manufacturing date sticker is there. We purchased this mattress 3 years ago and like those 5-star reviews, we loved it at first. Three years of use later, and each side has deep depressions and you feel like you are sleeping in a slightly too small bowl. We started to feel small aches and pains in our knees and back upon waking. It was gradual, and we didn't notice until we started to experience the discomfort. It wasn't until we came back from a vacation with no pain, only for those aches to return after the first night back in our own bed. The mattress comes with a 10-year warranty, and after some research, I see there were others that had the same problem and were taken care of. So, boosted with hope, I contact the manufacturer. They immediately responded with instructions on how to let them know of the problem. It was here that we ran into issues. First, they require that you send them a picture of the tag on the mattress that shows the manufacturing date. They send you a PDF that shows an example of the tag, with the manufacturing data on a small sticker on the tag. I removed the sheets from our bed and found the tag, only to see that there was no sticker. If you do purchase this mattress, I would recommend checking for this right away, and if it is not there contacting the manufacturer. Save your correspondence with them, so you'll have proof later if you need it. It may save you serious money later on. Secondly, their warranty states that it only covers defects that are visible to the eye. With the thick memory foam pillow top, you cannot seen any depressions in the mattress. For all I know, even without the pillow top, you may not be able to see any problems. The coils inside the mattress have loss their strength it seems and wear out faster where the pressure points are. Based on this, according to the manufacturer we have no basis for a claim. We're shopping for other mattresses now, and will be paying closer attention to these so-called warranties that the mattress is under. Originally we loved the convenience of ordering through Amazon, with free delivery and not having to go to a mattress store, but it seems like we're paying for it now, as stated in the warranty, "The warranty does NOT cover issues that require a physical inspection." I've included the relevant bits from their warranty requirements in the picture. We are shopping for a new mattress now, and will NOT be buying from Zinus again.
