I started as advised in the manual with something easy...saute. I placed some meat into the pot, turned my back for about 3 seconds, turned back to stir and smoke was billowing out of the area between the machine and the stainless steel pot. After rushing to switch it off at the wall and with nasty chemically smoke still oozing out I lifted the stainless steel pot out only to discover that the "Element" on the inside of the pot has burned right through what ever that is that is encasing said element. It has seriously melted!! Now I have to start the return / refund cycle as I am to nervous to give this appliance a 2nd chance :-(
