It is cheap; that may be its only positive feature. I went by the so many positive reviews, but in the end, I was misled. I don't know why people liked it so much. There were three issues that I encountered. 1) It is not powerful enough. Other similar products have more power. This affects how warm it will keep your beverage. It doesn't do a good job. Perhaps if you use a flat bottomed mug it would work better, but I don't have any and I want to use my good ones. 2) The paint on the plate chipped off starting with the first use and continued to do that so it looked ugly within a day. Maybe this is not important to some. 3) And this was the most important to me. It has a rather stiff switch to turn it on and off. I kept forgetting to turn it off. Then it stays hot and in addition to wasting energy, is in fact a safety hazard. I burned my hand on it not realizing that I hadn't turned it off. Other products offer either an automatic turn off after some time, or they turn on only when a mug is placed on them using a simple switch at the bottom. That is a much better arrangement, but it costs a little more, as does a ceramic plate that doesn't have paint chipping off all the time. I do not recommend this product. Pay a little more and get something better.
