10 minutes in and there’s already major conflicts with the books. The Dragon could be reborn as a boy or girl?!?! What? That makes no sense within the entire framework and story of Wheel of Time. Some have mentioned the race swaps, I couldn’t care less about that, as long as the actors do well with the characters. But majorly changing something that is an integral part of the story, a very key theme, that’s just ignorant. I don’t mind some minor changes, sometimes those can work and not detract from the story. Major changes and now you’re no longer making a Wheel of Time TV show but some wannabe that’s going to fall short and make no sense. There were other major differences within the first few minutes, enough that I’m not sure I’m even going to bother with this show, I’ll stick with the books. Edit: just to be clear, I’m not a “purist”. I expect shows to deviate from the books. I started this show with a mostly open mind, yet the blatantly unnecessary changes have now made me apprehensive as to what else they might have changed to the major themes and major plots within the story. The purpose is to have the Wheel of Time on the big screen, too many changes and it’s no longer Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time, rather it’s what someone else thinks it should have been.
