It just doesn't work for me
I realize I'm a lone dissenter in a sea of positive reviews, but I trust Amazon reviews and like to 'pass it on.' I used Great Lakes gelatin for about 6 months and love it - I have some arthritis and saw great improvement (e.g. I didn't need to fill a prescription for anti-inflammatory meds using Great Lakes and a topical ointment). I wondered if using the same product for a long time would reduce the efficacy and had seen so many positive reviews of Vital Proteins, I decided to give it a try.
With high expectations, I fully expected this stuff to...
a) have little to no taste - unfortunately, to me it does. It's not much, but it is noticeable
b) dissolve completely in my coffee or tea (or even add a little latte-like foam!) - it does NOT do either of these, even mixing it per the instructions (which I will say that other brands don't require this extra step - Vital Proteins wants you to mix the gelatin with a cold liquid, then add it to the hot coffee, tea, etc.). Multiple times I have ended up with a gluey sludge in my mug that is difficult to clean out. Best results came from putting coffee and pre-mixed milk/gelatin in the blender. This is pretty good, but again, an extra step in the morning and I ain't got time for that every day. Honestly this is the deal-breaker for me and why I gave it 2 stars instead of 3
c) keep the arthritis pain away - I have skipped a couple of doses because I dislike it so, and the pain is back within 2 days :( I'm being more consistent, but still having more pain than usual. Also a deal breaker
d) provide the usual hair, skin, and nail benefits - no noticeable difference here, so I assume it works
I'll use the rest because gelatin is expensive. But I won't order it again. Glad it works for so many, but maybe this will help just one person!
