Nice clock. Terrible alarm.
This is a great clock. Large display, dimmer, vertical face that you can see in bed or in the room, but doesn't blind you like the sun in the middle of the night. Those are the pros. All of them.
Sadly, after 2 months living with this thing, I've given up on the alarm function. I'm not stupid. I can run a computer and a smart phone. I can do formulas on Excel (on a good day) and my own taxes. I have a Master's degree. But after countless sit-downs with the instruction manual open, I cannot consistently set, change, and cancel the alarm. Seriously. I feel like an idiot. I've owned clock radios for 50 years. Can't figure this one out. Effective immediately, this is just a clock. My smart phone is now the alarm. Sad, but true. You'd think Timex would have the clock radio thing perfected. But no. Steve Jobs is better at it. Go figure! I still want to see a clock when I wake up at night, so I'll keep it. That's the only reason. Don't buy this unless all you want is a nice clock with a big display. It's useless as an alarm. I hope the power never goes out. God help me if I need to reset it.
Update 3 years later: I've never ever used this as an alarm or a radio. I have to consult the user guide every time we switch back and forth from daylight savings time. As a direct result, we moved to Arizona specifically because in Arizona, they never switch time. This clock has tremendous power! All was well until a service guy was here yesterday and unplugged the clock. When he plugged it back in, the alarm was randomly set. I tried everything to cancel the alarm, to no avail. The da*n thing has finally hit the trash, which in the end was the only way to defeat this monster. I finally feel free!!!!
