Very basic unit...
I really do not understand the extremely high price of this unit. It is very basic, with very few functions. I could only find 4 pulse patterns. The other buttons are just combinations of the 4 basic patterns. I could not find any programmability of frequency or wave form. This is nothing close to what I would expect from a professional grade unit.
Positives:
2 channels with independent levels
Really bright backlit display
5% level resolution is better than the 10% in $20-30 units.
Negatives:
Very limited EMS capability, and no real TENS capability (the continuous mode is not continuous, and can't be programmed as far as I can tell).
Level controls are too coarse. A "pro" unit would have 1% resolution rather than 5%
The level steps seem nonlinear. One step can go from barely tingling to muscle spasm/cramp.
Display is blinding at night, with no level control. It is also low contrast and doesn't give much information.
Buttons are not backlit, and not well positioned for use in the dark. This is surprising, because there are so few functions.
There are many units on the market that can do much more for 1/4 to 1/2 this price.
I really dislike the pin-plug electrodes. They work fine, but I attach pads before plugging in the leads. If one of the pads is on an arm, that means only one hand available to plug in the lead. No good since pin leads are a two hand operation. Snap leads can be connected with one hand.
Subjective:
I was curious why this unit is so much larger than others that can do more. I shined a bright light behind it, and found that it appears mostly hollow. I suspect that it was designed to look impressive. I fell for it, until I actually tried it.
Counterpoint:
If you want an extremely simple EMS unit with limited operation, this may be the one for you. The remote-control form factor could be attractive to some. Just be aware that you will be paying more for less when compared to other TENS units.
