Helps You to Occasionally Disconnect from the Internet - Seamless Spyware Comes Pre-installed
Positives: 1 - Decent Wi-Fi signal. 2 - Provides you and your family many opportunities to unplug from the internet reconnect face-to-face. 3 - Tasteful color choices on the configuration interface. Negatives: 1 - Router requires that you create a Linksys account and install a Linksys Velop app on your phone to complete the configuration process. This creates a nifty backdoor into your router and is a major security vulnerability. It was exceedingly difficult to figure out how to configure this router without making a Linksys account. 2 - While this device has four RJ-45 ports for wired connections, these ports are not configurable within the poorly designed configuration interface. These appear to only be for piggybacking other Linksys devices such as repeaters and range extenders, not for PCs, televisions, or other clients. 3 - Router requires a soft restart with even minor configurations changes, a very inconvenient feature. 4 - While the "Ookla" speed test shows my device as providing 200+Mbps speeds, amazon, gmail, and several other websites consistently failed to load images and came back with weird page errors or only partially loaded. After switching back to my previous router this activitiy went back to normal, leading me to believe that this router is parsing my browsing data for marketing (or maybe other) purposes. I had low expectations for this router, only hoping that it would have better range than my old Wi-Fi router, but it failed at absolutely everything else, especially routing. This product is so awful that it makes me want to just stop using the internet and read a book.
