Can Levin be taken seriously?
I bought and read Levin's book "Liberty and Tyranny" a few years ago and found it to have some great insights. After perusing the pages of this book, it is obvious that Levin again provides some really good information on why the U.S. Constitution is important to American society and we ignore it at our own peril. I agree with pretty much everything he wrote in this book. I rated it 1 star because he doesn't walk the walk when it comes to defending the Constitution. If you look at who he supports politically on his nationally syndicated talk radio show, he supports big spending, Rockefellar Republican, Big Government RINOs, who are just as bad as the liberals he claims to abhor when it comes to ignoring the Constitution. Additionally, he has gone on record multiple times mercilessly attacking the most pro-Constitution candidate in the history of the U.S. Congress: Ron Paul. By attacking someone as honorable and principled as Ron Paul, (someone who has been fighting a lonely 30-year battle to preserve what's left of the most important legal document ever written), Mr.Levin compromises both his credibility and consistency in regards to standing up for the Constitution. Mark Levin wants to put all the blame on Democrats for destroying the constituion and ignore all the unconstitutional measures supported and implemented by conservatives. The war on drugs, no child left behind, expanding medicaid, fruitless military adventurism, nation building, deficit financing, the issue of congress not voting andissueing a declaration of war before troops are deployed, attacking the current fiat monetary system. All of these are examples of breeching constitutional limitations. He is so caught up in the false-left right paradigm of today that he fails to see the bigger picture which reveals the fact that both political party platforms are largely unconstitutional big Government platforms that have led us to where are today. Ameritopia as he describes it. Look at who he supports in the presidential race, he is going to tell his listeners to vote for either Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, or Willard Romney. None of them have a history of fighting and standing up for Consitutional values compared to Ron Paul. Yet he marginalizes Ron Paul as a nut. Therefore, eventhough I have no doubt this book contains a great amount of enlightenment about why our Country is slipping into a hellish Big Government nightmare, I can't take Levin serious when he obviously doesn't take Ron Paul seriously on the same issues he claims to care about. The fact is, no one will be talking about Levin 20 years from now and this books will just be another politcal hack-piece while Ron Paul's Constitutional congressional record will become legendary and talked about 200 years from now. Levin could come accross much better if he had included some examples of Ron Paul and the courage that is necessary to actually stand alone and oppose un-constitutional legislation. Instead he comes accross as a political hack who isn't serious about what he is writing.
