I Believe Mighty Mule Company is So Named for a Reason!
Wish I could give "0" Stars on this one! Just look at the many previous reviewers who said that their Mighty Mule Driveway Alarm (MMDA) worked for a while and then over a period of time (usually weeks) slowly or abruptly stopped working. Note more detailed reports which add that removing batteries and replacing the same or different batteries and/or just restarting the MMDA would often give normal performance again for usually one day or so and then it would stop functioning or just periodically function normally until days later it went totally dead again! That was my experience, too, over most of my ~60 days of ownership. The real Shame (Capital "S") was when I called MM Customer Service (20 min. wait). With NO evidence whatsoever, the man kept blaming me for doing about a dozen different things wrong. He obviously had a well worn list (and seemingly an agenda, as well) to confront customers with! Turns out that I am used to working with complicated biomedical equipment...And, so I had already tried all the "Red Herrings" he to put in my way. I then said to him that many Amazon customer reviewers had had the same problem...But, he would not admit this; and, instead, acted like my problem was a big mystery to him and his Company. He had no fix and could not send me a known part to fix what I have found to be such a common issue! He was literally unbelievable to me! His only (quite stubborn) solution was for me to send my entire MMDA to them at MY expense so they could "...put my MMDA in their "Testing Unit" to determine what MY MMDA's problem was. In addition, the entire process could take weeks; no timeline was given other than "...my MMDA might need to be tested for many days." (Therefore, I would also have no device on my driveway during this time... Being as polite as I can, I think MM clearly has not been doing their homework, apparently for years, based upon reports! In addition, Customer Service seems to have perfected a sure-fire method to discourage customers so that they will not bother sending their MMDA to them for (longtime?)repair. MM's credibility seems lacking; I can only imagine that MM must have a giant warehouse of apparently flaky parts that they got cheap from a foreign land and that they have to get rid of somehow... I certainly would not call my Company (I own two small Corporations!) "Mighty Mule" if I was proud of it. I would only name it this if I was trying to warn people of my Company's general philosophy. At least by my experience "...the shoe [seems] to fit..." However, in the end, you must be the final judge of my experience! I will loose close to $70; but, it is worth it to move on...I am moving on to Optex's 2000 Wireless Driveway Alarm that was recently put on the market; and, has gotten many favorable reviews, thus far.
