I've had this for a while now and I've been using it with a new 2018 i9 MacBook Pro. I looked at a lot of USB C dongles and settled with this one after watching a comparison video saying that this one had the best heat distribution. It's nicely designed, has plenty of ports, and fairly compact. But that's about it for the pros. There is a major issue going on with this dongle if you're working with more than 1 device (SD card, hard drive, etc). If you have one device connected and plug in a 2nd device, the first device will be force ejected; sometimes both devices are ejected. Doesn't matter what you're doing. In the middle of copying files? Sorry. I had plugged my 2TB USB C SSD drive into the USB C port on this dongle (the one labeled for data, not for power - there are 2 USB C ports), and it ejected the drive immediately, and now it doesn't reconnect. I've ran data recovery software, I've tried different cables, adapters, and ports, and it doesn't show up in disk utility. It's just gone. So, after this dongle potentially corrupted my SSD, I got a replacement from amazon. I thought, I must have a dud. 2nd one arrived. I put a USB 3 Sony XQD card reader in, then a USB 3 bus powered hard drive... so far so good. Started transferring files. Then I plugged in a micro SD card into the dongle; everything was ejected. I couldn't get the USB 3 drive to show up and it started clicking.... Nope! Unplugged everything, tried going into the laptop with a simple USB 3 to C adapter with the hard drive. It showed up. Ran first aid on it and it's okay, but the point here is that there is some serious issues with this dongle. Not sure if it's hardware, or software, or even on the Mac OS side of things, but this is NOT SAFE for your data, and potentially the devices themselves. Still currently trying to figure out how to save my SSD, which may be totally lost now. Do yourself a favor and look at one of the other options out there.
