Faulty Hardware On Arrival
When I received my Ticwatch E, setup went fine and everything seemed as it should be. Within a few hours, though, I noticed that the display wasn't turning off when the watch was covered or put in my pocket. Follow-up with Mobvoi ultimately led to the conclusion that the proximity sensor wasn't working. After reading a few forums (even Mobvoi's own forum) I wasn't actually even sure the watch had a proximity sensor - as many people seem to be seeing the same behavior. Mobvoi support insists that it does and that it must be returned for warranty repair. On a bit more follow-up, I ran ADB to check the watches capabilities, and, as you can see in the attached screenshot, ADB does not find a proximity sensor in the watch. Support continues to insist that there is one. While on Mobvoi's forum, I went ahead and signed up and posted an inquiry of my own. The system indicated that the post must be approved by a moderator before it would actually post. The moderator has never approved my post. In fact, the only recent posts that appear are from someone selling fake passports. Those posts, amazingly, passed the moderator's check while my legitimate post discussing one of their products apparently did not pass. I haven't yet shipped my watch to Mobvoi, and at this point I think it's more likely that I'll just return it for a refund and buy a different brand.
