As I have faithfully done before, I clicked "Order Again". And, as before, my package arrived in less days than sticks in this pack. The first time I tried this beeswax-based, peppermint flavored lip balm, I was sold. All it took was a swipe across the top and bottom lips and my kisser would be moisturized all day long. On this most recent occasion, however, I was taken aback. As I opened the first stick from my new pack and applied it to my lips, my adrenaline pumped due to my subconscious being thrown off by a different sensation from a familiar situation. This stick of balm was heavier, greasier, and kind of had the flavor as if I was hovering over the fry pit for overtime at McDonald's on a Friday. After several needed reapplications throughout the day, my initial shock had morphed into suspicion. What had happened to my high-performing lip balm? As I said, lubing up my lips was a one-and-done activity in the morning. Now, my lips required the attention of an infant. Certainly, a distraction, indeed. So, I held the new stick next to my old stick in some generous lighting. I noticed the cap on the lip balm was now clear, vice white; not the culprit. Was the clear cap the old model and maybe expired? Nope, it's the latest edition. And then, it hit me. Perhaps they went the way of most businesses; sacrificing quality for profit. As the terrified sweat from my forehead combined with the tear of hurt from my eye, a riptide of emotion overcame my loins as I focused my attention towards the ingredients lists. Beeswax, number one ingredient on both. Then, faster than a guillotine drop, I had my answer. Ingredient number 2: new stick- sunflower oil, old stick- coconut oil. In fact, coconut oil dropped all the way to SEVENTH on the ingredients list of the new stick! Why, oh why, did you change the recipe, Beauty by Earth? I haven't felt this duped since I bought a leather notebook cover online from Hidebound (they were out of business, but their website was still processing orders and money transactions). Welp, as with any relationship, it was good while it lasted. But, you've changed, Beauty by Earth Peppermint Lip Balm.
