All 3 units POS...
I was the first to review this item on Amazon & I regret giving it a positive review. I tried hard to give them the "benefit-of-the-doubt" many times over. First unit died after a few months. I had to sent it across state lines to get it repaired.- Great but they stole my new unit & gave me a used one. They said they only replaced the cabinet but the air was also weaker. The cabinet had all the serial numbers on it & there was no other reason to replace it. Also when I sent mine in I retracted all the feet to prevent damage, the unit I got back had the feet extended to different positions & got damaged in shipping as a result- but it seemed to be just the foot. Not a huge deal & maybe switching units is just the way they do business. I seriously doubt they bother to level these while they are in for repair. That one again only lasted a few months (still unit #2) & leaked everywhere ruining a particle-board table & making it swell. When I opened it, it was all rusty on the inside. I was pissed. This time I wrote on the bottom & took a picture so they couldn't switch units on me & I sent that one for repair across state lines but this time The Lord blessed me with a hurricane & it was destroyed while it was in for repairs. :o) They gave me a new unit (#3) & I hung on to it unopened for awhile at first (fall & winter). I had a "fill in" unit (local hardware store) while it was gone for repair & summer was over. The furnace will keep the basement dry for the winter while I figure out what I want to do next. (Note that this is for just a 1200sq ft house) I thought about selling it & getting a clean break- but I couldn't sell it with a clean conscious. I decided to open it up & use it in the spring a year ago. This time I left it on in the winter months hoping that would keep it from breaking. I turned the humidity level down in hopes of making it extra dry & allowing it to run periodically. It seemed to last a little longer but closer to spring it became more obvious that all it did was raise my electric bill. (The clear drain pipe stayed dry as the humidity went up closer to spring- I'm not sure if it did anything all winter.) Now that the humidity is getting closer to 50% my other hardware store unit is kicking on. (I have a drain in the floor on each end of the basement & a unit by each. This unit by one hole in the floor & the hardware store unit at the other.) I was sick of the store units only lasting 2-3 years, but that is better than the guaranteed less than 1 year you get out of this one. With the cost of shipping over & over again, just buy local & have more than 1 so you can take your time cleaning it in the dry cool basement in the summer & be able to test it. This unit did work well for a few months each time- but is not worth the cost & cost of shipping every time it breaks. I am shopping for another & I'm not sure if I'm even going to bother telling them the 3rd one is broken. If I do send it, I'll be sure to write on the bottom again & take a picture. (I'll suspend it again between tables & lay on the floor or hang it from the ceiling.) Last I checked local repair was not an option. I'm also thinking that the Rapture is soon so none of this is going to matter in a relatively short period of time. This is partially why the delay in my response.
