Battery in the collar is bad. I returned 2 collars that would not turn on or charge. Call the manufacturer and they said the collars Amazon has in stock are 5 years old (based on the serial number) and the batteries have gone bad. Manufacturer set me a collar from their inventory and it works perfect. DO NOT buy these collars from Amazon. Purchase direct from Sportdog to assue you get a new collar. All that aside, These collars are great. I have 2 walker treeing coonhounds. I purchased the "add-a-collar" and am extremely satisfied with there performance. Programing the 2nd collar to the remote was easy. Dogs are in the water daily and waterproof is good. Collar range dose vary based on the terrain. So 1 star rating is based on Amazon having 5 year old collars with bad batteries. I would rate the collar itself as 5 star.
