Waste Of Money !!!
Received these today, to begin with absolutely poor packaging , get this, the headphones looked as if they had been thrown in the box !!! Then I plugged them into my Chord Mojo, Oppo H2se , and Schitt modi 3 amplifier's and received absolutely no signal...they were simply DOA,it makes one think about quality control measures definitely . To begin with,I will give you some background on myself,I currently own the KRK 8400 series, the Audio Technica M50x,and Pro 5x series,AKG 240,and 553mk.2 monitors,Beyerdynamic 770/250 limited pros,Focal Elars, and the Meze classics,Phillip shp 9500's, the previously mentioned headphones are used either in the studio environment for recording,at live venues in conjunction with a Presonus 32 channel digital sound board ,or for just general listening duties. So a friend of mine was like hey Paul try out the Sennheiser 280 pro's, sure why not I replied,so I ordered them on Prime and what did I get in return for my money... absolute garbage !!! When no sound emitted from the headphones upon plugging them in,it got my curiosity going, so I unscrewed the left speaker guard and using a led lamp proceeded to investigate, first problem encountered, an oily substance within the left ear cup, next I began to trace the wiring, started at the speaker unit, it was simply crimped and exposed beyond any normal level of acceptability, so I continued on down further to the circuit board and cable tray and this was nothing short of a literal freaking nightmare, first off the soldering was unprofessional, the wire separation was non existent, and whoever the Einstein was that put these together absolutely has no business in my opinion of doing such a task, you couple this with obvious non existent quality control measures and you have the Sennheiser 280 pro !!! I was super excited to try them in the live music scene, but that was terminated abruptly ! I cannot in good faith recommend these headphones to any of our clients,I will be instead recommending the Audio Technica, AKG, KRK and even Beyerdynamic lines,at least these companies can produce a reliable product !!! In closing, I will never attempt to buy another Sennheiser product personally again, you may be asking yourselves at this point, hey Paul where are these headphones now...let's just say may they R.i.P. oh by the way,the 280 pros harbor an absolutely poor internal build make up,so if you're interested in shoddy workmanship, poor build quality, and wiring that looks like it was done by a 5yr old, then this is your company, there is absolutely no excuses that can be mustered by Sennheiser in defense of this product, it's simply all about the money, trust me it's a lesson well learned,in short Sennheiser will never get any money again from myself or from any of our current and future clients or will it receive our production companies endorsement on any of their extensive audio products, and I can guarantee that 100% !!! Save yourselves money and buy quality gear from the likes of AKG, Audio Technica,KRK, and Beyerdynamic ! Oh by the way, I've been in the live music industry for over 20+year's ,I know a little thing or two about sound and quality delivery systems and simply put Sennheiser is definitely not one of them !!! You've all have been forewarned !!! Update: as of March 6,2019,I just received the Sony 7506's,they are absolutely stellar in every way to the 280 pro's, I began with repadding them with a set of Brainwaves sheepskin pads, these are by far more comfortable then what comes on the Sennheiser 280 pro's, the build quality is far superior in every way possible to the 280's, the wiring was straight forward and professionally done in appearance, researched the ability to exchange parts ie. the frame's, wiring, and padding by after market suppliers, and this was right on the money with the Sony 7506's ! Let's move onto the Sony 7506 vs. the Sennheiser 280 pro's up front cost, the Sony's are hands down the clear winner here without any hesitation over the Sennheiser 280's,perhaps Sennheiser could learn a little something here from Sony ! Back to the build quality, aftermarket part's availability is phenomenal, for example pad replacement is available by many companies, ie. Dekoni, and Brainwaves, as well as others manufacturer's, so overall design flexibility goes hand's down to the Sony 7506's.In short once again the Sony 7506's flat clean the page up over Sennheiser 280 pro's, in the cost, build quality, design and overall flexibility department's, as well as matching the 280 pro's in their overall frequency range !!! Definitely buy the Sony's over these, you definitely won't be disappointed !!!
