So this was a typical LJ Shen book, but watered down. Usually her books plot line goes: Guy bullies girl, girl thinks he's hot so forgives him while also being sassy and giving him a run for his money, but also not really..guy realizes she's a catch and only treats her well, but no one else. This one is: they were dating, but not really, he gets scared and pretend cheats, he comes back because he needs her help, she has a personality change where she is no longer Martyr Maddie (mentioned at least 5 times a chapter, btw), but now is a sassy heroine who finally sticks up for herself, meanwhile going along with every command he gives. Oh and now he's also a nice guy with an actual heart. That is probably the only aspect of this story that is any different than Shen's usual M.O. While the book itself contained similar themes to her other books, the vibe of this one was different. Almost like someone else was writing it... Overall, I don't recommend this book. I won't be requesting to review anymore of L.J.'s books.
