Apparently this author's definition of "mature" is quite different from my own. To me "mature" is understanding that there can be a literary need for violence (it can help to build up the heroes and can ensure little to no residual compassion for the bad guy when the hero offs them, among other things). Apparently this author understands "mature" to be people who are okay with reading highly tasteless and overly graphic mutilation of children. Last I checked that type of material was filed under "disturbed". Please be warned.
