★★☆☆☆
Not as Described: Bottom spring-arm might as well be a fixed solid rod.
Aside from the cheap quality of the metal throughout, this lamp may work for you if you don't need much reach. It is pointed in the wrong direction--the bottom arm swings away from you and is rigidly fixed, unable to move at all. Other reviewers tell you to remove the screw that prevents the lower rods from rotating, but the manufacturer has reinforced the screw with a fixed rod that immobilizes the lower arm--its springs are decorative only; they will not move at all. This is obviously done by the lawyers to protect against lawsuits because the lamp tipped over and set something on fire or damaged something with its heat. I bought this because the switch from my old lamp finally wore out after 15 years. After seeing how cheaply made and unlike the deliberately misleading ad it was, “34 inch easy adjustable multi-spring balanced arm allows complete flexibility” I returned it. I went to Lowe's, spent $3.50 on a new switch, soldered it in place, and all is well. See photo below of my old lamp to illustrate how this type of spring-loaded desk lamp flexes at both the top and the bottom when properly made and anchored with a large heavy base. JULY 11, 2016: Per customer service suggestion I am resubmitting photo.
