Hub causes drives to randomly dismount.
Junk, Hub causes drives to randomly dismount.
I got this to connect external hard drives (Drives have their own power supplies) to my SFF PC when I encode video. I connected it, started an encode, and about 20 minutes into the encode, I heard the Windows hardware disconnect tone followed by the error tone from the next room. When I came into the room, the encoding software had thrown an File I/O error and froze. After force closing and restarting the software, I discovered the associated files had been corrupted. Thinking it was a software issue I moved to the next file and restarted the encode. This time I was working in the same room and caught the moment when the external hard drive disappeared from "Computer" and the hardware disconnect tone played again, followed again by the same File I/O Error. The drive subsequently reappeared, once again the files were corrupted. I removed the hub and only plugged the one drive I needed at this point into the PC and started the next encode, encode has been running for an hour now without issue. I haven't had any issues before installing the hub, and no issues since removing the hub. Browsing the reviews I find this is a common issue with this hub, usually blamed on moving the hub but mine was not touched anytime near when the issues occurred. I am returning this, DO NOT TRUST THIS FOR DATA TRANSFERS!
