Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

I've been re-ordering this same item over the years as I've worn out old ones. However, the ones I received this time seem different than previous ones. Reviewing my purchase history, I have purchased these 7 times previously, and this time ordered a batch of 3 (total of 10 purchased). Using my caliper, my old ones measure ~4.95mm in depth. These new ones are measuring ~4.67mm in depth, e.g. 0.28mm thinner. Doesn't seem like much, but I noticed it immediately, which is why I got out my calipers to verify. Just doesn't feel as meaty and sturdy. I want a nice, quality mousepad -- not a flimsy one. I really don't care if it's $1 or $10. I just want a nice one. Another thing I noticed immediately -- these smell AWFUL. I don't recall my old ones being this noxious, even when they were brand new. I'm going to toss them in the dishwasher to see if that helps. Another reviewer mentioned that leaving them outside a few days didn't help, so I'll skip right past that strategy. (Thanks for that intel, fellow reviewer.)
