Shame on Vanity Fair for destroying a beloved product!
I’ve worn Lollipop cuff legs for decades, and always loved them. When they were owned by a company called Modern Globe and manufactured in the USA, they had great fit and great comfort.
And then Vanity Fair bought them out. Things seemed OK until I bought a package and the same size I always wore and it was WAY too small. I had to go up a whopping 2 sizes because the fabric was much cheaper and shrunk so much.
Last year in the spring, I was at an outlet store and couldn’t find any of them. The store personnel told me that they were due back in the fall. I figured something was up, and I think I was right.
I recently ordered a package from amazon, and then decided to order a 2nd without trying the first one. Big mistake. I finally tried them and was STUNNED.
I compared the new ones to what I already have. Both the old and the new are the SAME SIZE. Here are the changes in the product now being sold on amazon as style 15867:
1. Waistband is much tighter. I compared the stretch in the elastic to the last set I bought before they disappeared from the store and it is both smaller and has less stretch.
2. The product is tighter through the hip.
3. Fabric is thinner and has less “give” (stretch) to it. These feel more like a girdle than underwear.
4. Cuff legs are MUCH LARGER. Unfortunately, I do not have huge legs so these legs are incredibly uncomfortable and ride up a lot.
5. The new product seems to be made for women whose torsos are “long and thin” as opposed to “short and wide” and who have very large thighs - and that doesn’t work for me.
6. Just as an indication of how this product has been cheapened, Vanity Fair stopped sewing tags in the side seam. Now the underwear size and info is stamped on the back near the waistband.
This is NOT the same product AT ALL. The fit and materials are very changed. I can’t prove it, but I’ll bet the disappearance of this product for months was due to Vanity Fair changing factories.
When these were made in the USA, they were fabulous. The latest one from Vanity Fair are horrible - miserably uncomfortable.
