Sturdy keyboard with quality issues
Update 3 (Dec 29th 2020)
The review will remain at two stars. I actually managed to RMA the keyboard in early 2019. Logitech was helpful and sent me a new keyboard (including the palm rest!) without having to send in the old.
With the new keyboard, I thought I would try to keep the brightness on its lowest setting for the keys to avoid burning them out, and letting them turn off whenever I was away from the PC.
Unfortunately, it wasn't long before the newer keyboard also started developing the same issues with burnt out blue lights on certain keys. The keyboard is not even two years old, and there are over 25 lights that are malfunctioning already. Additionally, and more importantly, the N-key and spacebar are having mechanical issues with the switches. Sometimes they don't register a key press, and sometimes they register a double key press while only pressing once. I tried cleaning them with compressed air to no avail...
I generally like Logitech products, but unfortunately this one is one that I do regret buying... But I still have to give props to their support. I simply didn't bother RMA-ing the keyboard again, because I expect the issues to happen again. I will be looking for another keyboard soon.
Update 2 (Jan 3rd 2018):
Well... I have to drop this to two stars. It's the lowest I will give this, because from a purely functional perspective the keyboard works fine... But, after 8 months, the amount of LEDs that have failed have simply become too much. It seems to be completely unrelated to key presses. One of the failed keys is the Pause button, which I literally never use. Right now, there are a total of 17 (SEVENTEEN) keys where the blue color simply doesn't work anymore.. That is simply too much for a product that is now barely 8 months old, especially on a relatively expensive RGB keyboard of $130. And two of the remaining keys are also giving signs of failing (tint of "white" is changing). Unacceptable.
In the attached images you will see a picture with blue lights setting, clearly showing the dead keys. Another one has the purple setting, which will show the faulty keys as red. I also uploaded a video with the cycling colors so you can see it for yourself.
Update (Oct 22nd 2018):
The amount of keys that are have a faulty RGB functionally have now increased from two to five. First it was the + key and the L key that were not able to display blue... We can add the T, X and P keys to that list now. That is now 5 keys in 5 months... The O key is also showing signs of the blue color failing. The "white" color starts to become a greenish tint... Next month it will likely have failed... Seems to be an average of one dead blue light per month.
Will remain three stars for now, but will have to drop it if these keep failing.
Original review (17 Sep 2018, 3 stars):
When I received this keyboard, I was very impressed. Keys feel great, palm rest is extremely comfortable, RGB is beautiful, software is great. No complaints at all.
Now 4 months have passed, and my spacebar is starting to act a bit weird. If not pressed exactly in the middle, it can become stuck to one side, required me to manually pull it up. Worst case involves removing it completely and resetting it, so it works normally for a while, until it becomes stuck again.
Then there's the RGB keys. The + key and the L key, for some reason stopped being able to produce any blue light. They can display all other colors, but become black whenever blue is required. Only colors that use exclusively red and green can be displayed by these keys. The other keys still have their RGB working normally.
For this price, I find it a shame that after so little time, the keyboard is developing these issues. Normally I have no issues with Logitech products, and have bought quite a few. Sadly, this one's quality is not up to expectation... It's a great keyboard, when it works.
