Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

I really love Raina Telgemeier’s books and I appreciate how her writing has made my 8 year old really love to read. My issue with these books, and it is a major issue, is the multiple references to a middle school kid (Stacey) being on a diet. I have made such an effort to shield my daughter from language that associates food with body image so these books are a HUGE disappointment. Even casual remarks about a cat who used to be “nice and skinny” are totally unnecessary and do more damage to young girls than people realize. Also do we ever hear this kid of language in books aimed at boys??? No. We don’t.
