Definitely not Elite.
***UPDATE_5***
2nd bag failed. Cracked nearly in the same area as the first one. In the process of getting it warrantied thru Pelican AGAIN.
***UPDATE_4***
Added photos from the one that failed on me. The three holes drilled in it was requested by Pelican in order to receive a replacement.
Photo 1: Large crack in the case rendering it useless.
Photo 2: Locking mechanism broken off after 2nd trip
Photo 3: How easily the case scratches. It started to look like that after my first trip.
***UPDATE_3***
After being on the road for 2 months and passing through the airports, this case has made my life harder than it should be.
1) Seattle airport workers think this is a military case and it was flagged and held. AA couldn't give me any exact answer why.
2) My luggage gets priority tags since i travel nonstop for a living. First class and Priority passengers get this nice little orange tags that tell the baggage handlers to put your luggage last on the plane, so it comes out first in the baggage area. Cool, huh? When this case ruins that. It always gets sent to the oversize area, even though its not oversized. Or it comes out last. its a guessing game to see where your luggage will arrive.
3) Wheels are in terrible shape and barely hanging on.

***UPDATE_2***
Replacement is about to fail. Wheels are very loose. Case looks beaten up from normal airline travel. Major regret buying this.

***UPDATE***
This piece of luggage failed. It came out of the luggage conveyor with a huge crack in it. Airlock no longer worked. The inside of the luggage(between the plastic) is actually pieces of styrofoam. Very odd. Oh, and the TSA locking mechanism failed the previous month. Wheels were very wobbly.
Called Pelican and went through the warranty process. They asked for photos and after about 10 emails back and forth, they told me i would receive a new one. They didn't want the old one back....they simply made me drill holes in it and asked me to dispose of it.
Replacement looks to be identical to the old one :( I was hoping they made the wheels studier and possibly a non scratch material coating on the outside. Oh well. if your expecting typical pelican quality, such as the Pelican 1510(best case i have ever used), your not going to get it. It ***feels*** that this product was made by a different company and they slapped pelicans name on it.

I bought this on the day it came out. There is a significant number of flaws and I cannot recommended.
1) Its way too heavy. On most airlines, each piece of luggage can weigh up to 50 pounds(75 pounds if you fly first class) or you pay an overage fee. Empty, this is 26 pounds. As a road warrior, i cannot bring the same amount of clothing and accessories with me as my other suitcase, which are considerably lighter. I now have to bring two bags or pay an overage fee.
2) After 3 months of weekly use, its beaten up pretty badly. All scratched up and looks at least 3 years old.
3) Its simply not worth 550 dollars. Feels very overpriced. While it is a nicer piece of luggage, it should be in the $300 dollar range.
4) One issue i did not expect: There are times when this bag comes out of the "oversized" area(though its not oversized). Airline workers think this is a standard pelican case with equipment in it(Philly airport works have a habit of doing this).
5) The locking mechanism is TERRIBLE!
6) The retractable handle feels very cheap. This feels like its going to break first.
Overall, its a roomy suitcase, but i completely regret this decision. The inside of the suitcase is very nice though. The addons(garment bag, shoe bag, etc) are of good quality, but a slap in the face at a hundred dollars more. If you do buy this and are a road warrior, i would suggest going one size down to the medium sized case.
