This cable is not DisplayPort certified, here are the problems you will encounter.
When buying this cable, I did not know it was not officially certified. In fact, I didn't know there was really an official certification, nor did I know what that meant. I assumed that it was like most HDMI cables, and that since the signal was digital, it would just work to the standard set by displayport. This cable will: - Display a 1080p signal at 60Hz. This cable might (untested by me): - Display 4k signal at 60Hz This cable will not: - Display 1440p at 144Hz...sorta. (It will display it if you can get your computer to boot up, but it wont allow your computer to boot while plugged in sometimes.) The problem I had with this cable was that when it was plugged into my GTX 980Ti and a Dell S2716DG G-Sync monitor, the computer would not start. Nothing. No LED lights on the power button. Video card wouldn't light up. Nothing, it was completely dead. I couldn't tell if it was a power supply issue, monitor issue (it was a new monitor), or video card issue. It turns out it's a cable issue. A google search of "PC Fails to Boot When DisplayPort is Plugged into EVGA GTX 960" will lead you to a reddit thread that states, "It's a common problem...you only have to buy a certified Displayport 1.2 cable and it will magically work, any known brand like a $30 Startech will do...If you also want to know why, it's because most Displayport cables (even the ones included with monitors) send back a 5v signal on the 20th pin to the gpu, making the entire system instantly power off, while the certified 1.2 ones do not." This is how I learned that this cable is not certified. It does not have the official DisplayPort logo on it, which certified cables do have. Do yourself a favor and just get a certified cable. You can view a list of certified cables at displayport dot org. If you need this for 1080p, I still wouldn't suggest it in case you try to reuse this cable later down the line and end up forgetting that it's incompatible with whatever you buy next.
