Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

Well, I ordered this a few months ago. It had been working okay on my Mac. I've only stored short family video clips on it. It wasn't the fastest, but good enough for what I needed. HOWEVER, I plugged it in today and it's "toast". It has renamed itself to some weird symbol name, and all of my files are GONE. I spent a lot of time researching these things and this one looked the best. The main point is all of my files are LOST, after just a few months. Of course, I hadn't backed it up yet, since my big external hard drive hasn't arrived yet. Any ideas if this thing is restorable or recoverable??? To add to the sting, the return period is over, but more than that, I'd rather have my data back! I haven't contacted PNY yet but I'll try once I get time. I'm just hoping someone on here may have any experience to share with me, or hoping PNY checks these reviews of their products and can shed some light... Super displeased and quite sad at the loss.
