★☆☆☆☆
Excellent design, but poor colors and high cost of exclusive sublimation cartridge/paper
I have tried printing 21 photos each using different settings and the printer simply cannot match the colors even close to the actual images i am using. The printer especially has difficulty matching light skin tones and colors generally look extremely flat. Even if i were to some how print a close to color matching photo the next photo i print will come out messed up. It doesn't make sense to have to adjust color settings each time a new image is printed. Every time you need to waste a paper just figure out the close to color adjustment settings for decent results. Also, each level of adjustment has such a drastic difference it's almost impossible to get any in between level of difference. I'm not sure how this printer has such good ratings despite all these issues on color matching... Unless you like flat colors and people appearing like ghosts or you are color blind? I cannot justify further use of this printer... What a huge let down! *UPDATE 4/13* Canon keeps writing generic comments towards my reviews or questions, "please call customer support for further troubleshooting" I have literally tried everything possible between directly printing via air to using the Canon app as mentioned in their comments and there is no difference in color or quality of the images. Applying even 1 click to improve the color in either CMYK color settings causes such huge difference between the previous photo that it makes things worst. Normally, from my experience with printer settings 1 click in boost of one of the tones should be subtle not drastic difference. There should really be better information provided on which is the best method to use this printer other than instructions on how to get connected to print only. I have seen online some stating that the best colors only are achievable when connected directly via USB cable to a desktop computer through either Lightroom or Photoshop app with the settings to have the printer take over the color management. Canon's own Selphy app itself has little to no options for this kind of settings when it should be basic attributes especially when they are advertising as a "portable" printer. I wasted 21 sheets of photo paper each with different settings to figure this out only find out there was absolutely no way to get the colors right via mobile phone.
