★★☆☆☆
Awful writing, and blatant propaganda
So if you've been paying any attention you'd know that Venezuela is in the toilet because of the marxist regime that has decimated its economy. People are eating their pets. But Amazon's production manages to change the story to some kind of right wing, military dictator ruining the country. Who ya gonna call? The leftist, activist, and fairly hot female professor type running on, what else, the "social justice" ticket. Beyond the politically corrected, progressive propaganda, it's just predictable. Jack is a genius who can tell surgeons how to operate and pick intelligence needles out of haystacks in one scene, then he's the guy who picks up a strange woman who speaks six languages and leaves his top secret documents out on the dresser for her to read. Then there's the faithful friend that's just too good to be true, and you know he's dead meat before too long because something's gotta really make Jack mad, and by golly, you killed my besty besty!! And it's not China, but Russia who's the bad guy. And it's too early in this mind-numbing series to see what's ahead, but the only suspense is wondering what cliche these writers will trot out next. Production isn't bad, gave an extra star for that. But it's a made-for-TV style mini-series in the worst sense, just a bigger budget. Amazon is afraid to offend the communists. Sound familiar?
