***Caution*** Fabric sides of sleeper are not taut and my baby's HEAD got caught in the gap
***Caution***I wanted to love this bedside sleeper- it is reasonably priced and had lots of great reviews. The assembly was fairly straightforward and we had it set up and ready for a few weeks before our baby's arrival. He slept in it just fine, however, we noticed that despite laying him in the middle of the sleeper, every time we put him in there he somehow ended up lying flush against the fabric wall. Mind you, this was baby that was only a few weeks old, under 10 lbs and swaddled, so we were concerned. We inspected the sleeper and noticed that it was not level and tilted towards the side that drops down - our baby's kicking was causing his whole body to shuffle over to the tilted side of the sleeper. We disassembled and reassembled the product trying to troubleshoot the issue and it seemed more level. One early morning shortly after, I heard my baby fussing and ignored him in my sleep deprived haze - hoping he would go back to sleep. After a couple of seconds I thought his fussing sounded off so I looked into the sleeper and to my utter HORROR saw that he had shuffled over to the side of the sleeper again and his HEAD was literally trapped between the side of the sleeper and the thin mattress while his little legs continued to kick and wedge him further into the gap. I snatched him up as fast as I could with my heart racing. The sides of the sleeper are made out of fabric and it is not taut around the frame and mattress - it is NOT SAFE. This occurred when he was 6 weeks old... so again, not a very mobile baby. I called Amazon and they opened a ticket to have the product inspected for safety. Since then, we've purchased a different bassinet that has all mesh sides and made sure that there were absolutely no gaps or slack between the walls and the mattress. We may have gotten a defective product - whatever the case, parents please exercise caution with this product.
