Why no battery replacement capability?
I thought that this item was a great product ideally suited to a demographic whose hearing was not bad enough to require a high priced hearing aid. What completely turned me off (pun intended) was the the battery situation. $300 is a very fair price point for this unit, but a poorly thought out battery replacement policy complete skews it. In short, there is NO battery replacement policy! After 2 or so years, after the Li ion batteries will no longer accept a charge, the Soundhawk must be thrown out. The batteries cannot be user replaced, you cannot send it back to the manufacturer for replacement, you cannot get a discount on a new unit, and you can't purchase just the Scoop portion at a cheaper price. Didn't the first IPhone try something similar when it first came out, and didn't Jobs realize his mistake and allow for units to be shipped back to the factory for battery replacements? I understand the concept of planned obsolescence, but come on guys!
