Quiet, but not so cool.
I purchased this unit as I was going to be working from home much more and the only window in my office is close to my desk. Noise was going to be an important factor for me. I will say that this is the quietest air conditioner I’ve ever used. You can barely hear the compressor run and all that you can really hear is the fan noise. The application to control the unit is nice as well and the ability to set schedules was something I really liked so I didn’t have to worry about remember to turn it on/off. However, the big problem is that it just doesn’t cool very well, which is somewhat important for an air conditioner. I don’t have a large office. It’s 204 sqft as I measure it, but the unit could just not keep up with cooling the room when it got hot. I would schedule it to be at 68° at 7am in the morning and by the time I sat down at my desk it might be 72° in the room. However, after working in the room it would gradually creep up and by the end of the day would be 74-76° in the room. The air that came out of it was cold, and usually varied between 48-55° as measured by a Thermoworks Thermopop but it just couldn’t seem to get the job done. The fan definitely wasn’t strong enough to feel it 20 feet across the room as claimed. It was 6-8 feet at best. I opened a ticket with Midea and after a lot of back and forth they agreed to refund my purchase. I will not be buying another one of these units. Maybe in a few years if the quality control improves.
