Singer used to be a really reliable name in sewing machines, even one of the best. This product is junk and shame on them for continuing to sell such an inferior product. When my sewing machine could not be repaired, I started looking for a new one. With everyone making masks, sewing machines in any price range are scarce. I really wanted a better machine but decided to settle for this since it was all that seemed to be available at the time. I thought I could at least finish my project. I was wrong. It worked for a very short time before the tension became an issue. I could only sew a stitch or two and thread balled up on the underside. I have since read reviews from others complaining of the same issue. Interestingly, this model was advertised as the one used on "Making The Cut" (not why I bought it). I highly doubt that. Professionals would never tolerate the cheap construction and inadequacy of this machine. I returned it to Amazon but would have preferred to just give it away. Since I'm an experienced seamstress and wasn't able to operate it, I figured it wouldn't be much of a "gift."
