Was hoping for more than I got. Easier to just give your dogs a regular bath! !
I was hoping this would have worked far better than it did. This pet bathing system is very disappointing in most respects and frankly it's easier to clean my dogs in the tub and less mess.
First I was concerned that the noise if the unit would bother my dogs based on the reviews I read. The unit was actually less noisier than I expected! I have three dogs and the noise didn't bother any of them. It's quieter than my vacuums, both Bissell pet vacs.
I have three dogs, one is a Great Dane with thick hair around his neck, the second is a German Shepard mix with a medium length coat and the third is a pointer mix with a short coat.
I recommend you brush your dogs thoroughly if you have a before it long coat dog before using this machine unless you want a mess of wet hair everywhere!
I tried the bark bath on my pointer first since he is calm and sat patiently the whole time I bathed him with the bark bath. He wasn't bothered by it and seemed to enjoy it. The shampoo that came with the unit is gentle and even though it said it was scented there was no discernable scent and my dog smelled like wet dog afterwards. The unit dropped a lot of water from the spray head as the vacuum wouldn't get all the water it sprayed on the coat. It doesn't spray a lot of water and in my opinion it needed to be higher pressure in order to get deep enough under the coat to actually clean adequately. It was also NOT quick as I had to go over and over the coat to actually feel like I was getting my dog clean. I ran through two tanks of water for my 50 lb pointer and still I was not impressed with the cleaning action of this item.
I wasn't looking forward to using this on my Dane! I tried it anyway. My Dane sheds a lot and I learned I had to brush him thoroughly to remove as much lose hair as possible a couple minutes after I started. The vacuum head was clogged almost immediately when I started on him. I went through 3 tanks of water and ended up putting him in the tub and bathing him. Too me 10 minutes to thoroughly clean him in the tub and another 5 minutes coaching the tub out thoroughly compared to the 40 minutes using the bark bath, which didn't clean him at all and brushing him on top of that.
I also recommend putting hot tap water in the unit as the water cools immediately as it runs through the hoses.
I didn't bother bathing my German Shepard with it as I was frustrated and wasted a lot of time using this. I love Bissell's pet hair eraser vacuumes and spot cleaners but was sorely disappointed with the Bark Bath cleaner. I am returning it the day after I received it for a refund.
