BEWARE of anyone selling lilac essential oil, THERE IS NO SUCH THING. It is either synthetic chemicals, or a blend of other essential oils attempting to mimic the lilac scent. If the cost is less than $15 or $20, then it is certainly synthetic chemicals. Only recently has anyone been able to extract the scent molecules from lilac flowers, and only by CO2 extraction or enfleurage, both of which are very expensive for this flower, and neither of them retain the entire scent profile of the lilac. The CO2 extraction runs about $50 for 1 ml. That is one fifth of a teaspoon. Enfleurage is even more expensive. Don't be fooled by retailers who are either lying, or are ignorant as to what they are selling. What you will receive from these retailers is synthetic chemicals. Do your own research online, and you'll see what I'm talking about.
