Deceptive and/or overstated advertising? You decide.
NatureWise Vitamins all have a prominent US flag on their bottles, but there are two different statements under the flag: "MADE in USA" and "BOTTLED in USA." I have to assume that there is a difference since labeling is usually (if not required to be) intentional and true. So...is this vitamin D3 made with fish oil harvested in China? I don't know. I do know that NatureWise D3 are not in the top 10 choices on any trade review. Next point: NatureWise has a little promotion whereby they'll give a free bottle to anyone who's bought a bottle on their website or retailer. I bought a bottle and immediately hit the website address to get another free bottle. Who wouldn't? So this "free bottle" website states that you shouldn't do a review until you have tried the product for 15 days. Get real, folks. The way you check D3 is by a blood test. And how many people do you think wait 15 days to do the review? So you have oodles of positive reviews for this company - some legit - some because we want our free bottle. Finally, one of their claims is that they use ISO 17025 accredited labs. What does this mean? That the lab has been reviewed by a third party assessor and found to be compliant with international standard for labs. Is the lab accredited to do food or drug safety, percent content, etc.? Maybe so; maybe no. NatureWise does not list one of the three general accepted gold standard labs for supplements as their testing lab of choice: United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP), Labdoor, and National Sanitation Foundation (NSF). I thought their claims of lab testing were good ... until I looked it up. Back to the original point: Check out the label on the advertised D3 box. It clearly says: Made in USA. My bottle sitting on my counter says: Bottled in USA. That's deceptive. I don't like it. Anyone who would do that is not an entity I want to purchase supplements from.
