Poor quality not as advertised!
Don't buy, byer beware. I tried to write an honest follow up review before and it was pulled. Still nobody can explain why. Probably because I was not happy with Amazons policy. Here is the story. I bought it in September of 2014. I needed an external HD and after looking at it, I thought it was the ticket. Well built, Rugged, Shockproof, wow. I was only using it for an occasional back up, but hey I liked the stats. So after the occasional use for back ups, it dies, just quit, wow. Did I forget the main reason to buy it? Oh yeah a full 3 year warranty. So I'm covered, or so I thought. Tried to contact Silicon Power to no avail. The links to contact them at their Amazon page do not work. Called Amazon, being a Prime Member for help. They said still a seller and they would call for me. The agent tried twice, no answer. So he sent an email on my behalf, copied me, still no answer. So now I call Amazon again the agent found an external web site and sent me a link. So I send email, answer comes back in Chinese, another comes in English, wants to know my location, I send it. A few days later they want me to send them my Hard Drive to God knows where at my cost. Cost is not an issue, its the sending of my Hard Drive to a foreign country or wherever with my personal back up of accounts and info, No way! I contacted Amazon to tell them about the site and what they want me to do. I said if I can bust it up with a hammer and send it back, that is the only way, otherwise forget it, I'm not handing my personal info over to them to do what they want. I would advise everybody not to do that it is a common sense issue. So to sum it up, yes I'm making the choice to not send it and I will have to accept the situation. Live and Learn. If you look at the reviews others have also had issues after a few months of these quitting. I would recommend you look elsewhere for a reputable know company to buy from, not Silicon Power.
