This Oster countertop oven gets very hot on the outside.
Let me set the reader's expectation with regards to this review. I took the oven (model TSSTTVDGXL) out of the box, tested its ability to reach its maximum temperature of 450 degrees, let it cool down, put it back in the box and returned it. I cannot speak to the oven's ability to cook various foods, its ease of cleaning nor how the oven holds up over time. I gave it one star because home safety is important. I will provide detailed measurements of the oven and the reason I am returning it. I returned the oven because it gets too hot to the touch. I set the oven to Bake at 450 degrees and placed a thermometer in the center of the oven. This is the first thing I do when I purchase a new oven. The oven temperature exceeded 450 degrees. It was well on its way to 500 degrees before I shut it off. The top, front, left side and the rear of the exterior was very hot to the touch. The rear was the hottest. I suffered a slight burn when I accidently touched the rear. The right side of the oven was fine. I did not feel comfortable having this oven in my home. It seems like everyone wants to give measurements in a different way, so I am going to make my measurements easy to figure out. :) Exterior measurements are as such: Width (left to right) = 21 1/2 inches. Height (top of oven to the counter) = 12 3/4 inches. Depth (front of glass to the end of the safety block on the back) with the door closed = 17 1/2 inches. The handle sticks out another 2 inches. Depth with the door open = 27 1/2 inches. Interior measurements are as such: Width = 15 1/2 inches. Height = 8 1/2 inches between the top and bottom heating elements. 6 3/4 inches between the top heating element and the bottom rack. 4 1/2 inches between the top element and the top rack. There is a 2 inch gap between the two racks. Depth (front of rack to back of oven minus the bulge) = 13 1/4 inches. Depth (front of rack to the center of the bulge in the rear of the oven = 16". I hope this review is helpful. If the review looks like one long paragraph, then that is because Amazon removed the spaced between my paragraphs. If that occurred, I apologize on behalf of Amazon. :)
