Exasperating, Facepalm & Numb Legs
We had a 17-year old Toto washlet connected to a fully-skirted Toto toilet that has worked very well up until the water stopped coming out. This washlet seemed to be the most similar replacement for a decent price. There are some definite problems with this washlet that makes is disappointing to me and has my wife asking me if we can return it. - Installation: The box never came with installation instructions, only 3 Instruction Manuals in different languages. The inner box holding the washlet was in rough shape, so I'm wondering now if it was a returned unit. If you have an older washlet seat, the connection to the toilet water line attachment will NOT work with the new unit. So you have to remove the old metal fixture. Then you get to fight for hours trying to attach the new fixture. I only just found out today via other reviews that, instead of trying to attach the fixture directly to the filler valve, I should've purchased TOTO THU9090R extension to get this all to work. #facepalm #exasperating - Water pressure: The water pressure coming out of the new washlet is lower than the old washlet, even with the full pressure setting. My wife says the pressure is a little higher in oscillation mode, but I'm not so sure. It does make a world of difference and we're both disappointed. - Seat Contour: We have an oval seat and although the shape fits the toilet well, the contour of the top of the seat is different than the old washlet (the old washlet seat was flatter). So much so that our legs begin falling asleep after a short period of time. I've tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, but after two days, it's getting difficult. - Seat "Room": I've seen other reviews on here and +1 to them. There is less room with this seat - the old washlet was MUCH better. - Dryer: The dryer is a nice idea but in theory, I think you'd have to sit on the seat for 30 minutes before you're dry. Our legs would have to amputated for lack of blood supply. - Seat Cover: The old washlet's seat cover went back more so your back wasn't hitting it when you sit down. The new washlet's cover is more vertical and more beefy, so you can't sit back on the seat. We really want to return the washlet & I'm really not looking forward to ripping the plumbing apart to remove it. My fear is that all the other Toto washlet seats will have this contour & room problem so I'm really confused as to what to do. Are we just out of options and have to deal with it? UPDATE: We returned this washlet and went with the Novita BG90-EW Elongated Bidet Seat - I must say this seat is WAY better than the TOTO for not much more money. The seat is MUCH more comfortable and the water pressure is MUCH better - it even has a water boost pump that even beats our old, original washlet. If you don't care about the pre-mist capability, the Novita is a great bet so far!
