For Game Use Only
Initially, I was wowed by the loss, colors, silver edging to the cards...super fancy. Then I saw that the major arcana, as well as each suit had their own card color. Hmmm. I know that in Tarot, there is the idea that the cards are unknown while shuffling by both the cartomancer and the querent. I think that separating the suits and arcana by color is not a good idea.
After I got over the first impression of the glitter, I realized that the cards did not contain Angels, but beasts and other aspects of the realm of faerie, or fay. I feel that Angels are not of this realm, and mixing the two was a bit distasteful to me. The art was wonderful, but if I am buying and angel deck, I want to see angels. It is the equivalent of purchasing a deck of rainforest animals and seeing Serengeti Plains animals. Just not what you purchased.
As a tarot card reader, I use Thoth, Rider-Waite, Hermetic, and Lenormand, which is the most difficult for me. With each, I have original artwork decks. This deck has the key words for "definitions" of the card at the top, and a situational example at the bottom. Yuck. If this is being used as a "game", it is great, but for serious tarot reading, I want symbolism, not words that have fixed meanings. This also made me realize that pictures lacked the symbols, so consequently, the cards REQUIRE these definitions. Really disappointing.
Once I had broken in the deck a bit, I noticed that the "earth, which is usually pentacles or coins cards, had their color removed by the silver paint. Now these cards have white places where the gloss and cardboard ripped off where the cards were stuck together and were now separated. I am miffed. I have not even attempted a reading, and these are now garbage.
Card reading is a practice where cards are often gifted, and used cards are rarely used unless the cartomancer was known to the person receiving the cards, and so passed down. Cleansing cards is serious business. Therefore, I am unable to return these and have my conscience clear.
So this being said, these deserve a -1 stars, not a 1 star. The cards are worthless and unusable. Spend your money on a different type.
